Our Services and Resources

Crisis Line Services

  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Confidential and Anonymous
  • Access to information, crisis intervention, support, community referrals

Counselling Services

  • Supportive, non-judgemental, confidential counselling is available to those who have experienced sexual assault, incest or sexual child abuse, recently or in the past, whether or not you chose to report the attack.
  • Individual Counselling offered
  • Group Counselling offered
  • Emergency sessions (2-8 sessions made available for someone in immediate crisis)
  • Emergency Walk In service provides immediate crisis intervention, support and community referrals.
  • Drop In support group available to survivors

Outreach Counselling

This is an off site program. Women eligible for this program must live outside of the St. Catharines/Thorold area.

Accompaniment / Advocacy Services

  • Hospital Accompaniment--the hospital response program provides accompaniment and advocacy for the medical visit and the medical process of the forensic evidence kit procedure performed at the St. Catharines General Hospital's Sexual Assault Treatment Centre.
  • Police Accompaniment--information and/or accompaniment is available to the survivor when she gives her statement to the police.
  • Court Accompaniment--information, preparation and court accompaniment are available to the survivor for all levels of the criminal proceedings (ie: preliminary hearings, crown interviews, trials, etc.) Referrals to the Victim Witness Assistance Program are also given.

Public Education

  • A variety of public education programs available for community groups, elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, as well as workshops for professional groups.
  • Programs are about sexual abuse/assault information, awareness & prevention.
  • Child Abuse Prevention ProgramChild Assault Prevention (C.A.P.) Program is a school designed to give children tools, not rules, of self defence. C.A.P empowers children to recognize and resist dangerous situations and to develop strategies for dealing with assaults.

Volunteer Program

  • Our centre currently has a volunteer program and volunteer training is offered on a regular basis. Help provide support and information to callers on the 24 hour crisis line or assist with other areas of the centre services. See our Volunteer with NRSAC page for more information.

Fundraising

  • Our centre receives approximately 60% of its funding from the provincial government. The remaining 40% we raise on our own.
